Gollum
Gollum from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is one unfortunate character indeed. His obsession with The Ring (Precious) has degenerated him into a ghastly figure but he is still dangerous and clever. I only know him from the movie trilogy but he is made unforgeable both by 'movie magic' and excellent acting. I'm sure in the books he must be quite a character.

It is certainly a character that I was a little sorry for me ... but unforgettable! It has some resemblance to Spanish politician!
ReplyDeleteGollum is very memorable and thanks Leovi for commenting so quickly and consistently.
DeleteWhen I first saw Lord of The Rings Gollum freaked me out.
ReplyDeleteThe raspy way he says, "My precious" when referring to his obsession, the ring, is one of my favorite creepy idiosyncrasies.
ReplyDeleteI like the way he degrades the Hobbits every chance he gets. Poor Gollum used to be a Hobbit himself before the ring posessed him.
ReplyDeleteHe was quite funny when he did that. Sad that he used to be such a different person.
DeleteWhen I was in the army as my MOS training, I had picked up The Hobbit as a reread. I'd gotten to that point where Bilbo is in the caves and trying not to be killed by Gollum. They're playing that crazy riddle game. I happened to make a comment about it and one of my bunk mates asked more. I read her the scene and she went out and got a copy of the book for herself. So, Gollum sold her. :D
ReplyDeleteHe was pretty special in THE HOBBIT as well, though I haven't read LotR.
ReplyDeleteGreat character choice!

ReplyDeleteI'd do my Gollum impression for you, but you can't hear it from here. :)
ReplyDeleteAndy Serkis channeled him perfectly. You should read the books sometime. Start with The Hobbit. The riddle scene is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI don't really do Lord Of The Rings, so like you, I only know of him from the movies!
ReplyDeleteOh my precious!
ReplyDeleteIt's the split personalities that get me. I love when he's arguing with himself.
ReplyDeleteI know the name, but I'm not really familiar with the movies. He's one spooky-looking guy, isn't he?
ReplyDeleteHe is so creepy. He was creepiest in the movies, I thought, more just interesting in the books. It was the wraiths that freaked me out when I read the books.
ReplyDeleteCreepy and precious..what a delicious character Tolkien created.

Gollum is certainly a precious little character and worthy of a mention. Good choice for "G".
