Daffy Duck

Daffy Duck is a cartoon character who is a popular animated character owned by Warner Bros. He has appeared in hundreds of cartoons and multiple movies. Daffy Duck was created in the 1930's to counter the everyman cartoon characters like Popeye and Mickey Mouse. He was crass and antagonistic. Unlike most protagonists he wasn't kind or a great role model for kids. He was often at odds with Bugs Bunny who is considered one of the 'golden boys' of cartoons.

But I love Daffy. Why? Because he is different but most of all he is honest. Not honest as in trustworthy but honest about himself. He is mean, untrustworthy and will rarely come through for you in a pinch. But he isn't evil and won't go out of his way to kill you intentionally. Well...not necessarily. There are only a few lasting characters that are like Daffy Duck and that to me makes him very memorable in my book. I mean who hasn't seen a character that you can compare to Bugs Bunny (note I don't hate Bugs, he is just more mainstream) who have maintained popularity to this day? Daffy Duck having lasting doppelgangers is rare and that to me is quite special.

  2. Daffy has a character all of his own. So much deeper than any of the others. He is a little bad, and somewhat good. Good choice!

  3. I simply adore watching Daffy go at it with Bugs Bunny and there are some great older cartoons where he's even actively part of making political statements like some of the WWII cartoons I've seen him in.
    Great choice!

  4. As a kid, I wasn't sure if I liked Daffy or not. He was really funny to watch (his has the funniest laugh!), but that sour side of him always made me a little bit angry. Great choice!

  5. He's got snark!

  7. I love Daffy and that pic alone shows why. He's such a funny character and I love this disgust and irritation with everyone LOL.

  8. I haven't seen much of Daffy or Bugs. I didn't watch TV growing up but from what I've seen Daffy is the more interesting of the two (and way cuter!)

  9. Strangely enough, I didn't know anything about Daffy Duck at all ... until now, anyway. :)

  10. I liked Bugs more, but when these two were in a cartoon together, it was so funny.

  11. Yes, it's one of my favorite characters from childhood, I learned to live with it!

  12. I loved Daffy Duck as a child. I loved his unusual voice very much :)

  13. Awesome choice. Of all the ducks out there, Daffy made the most sense. :)

  14. I love Daffy Duck too. He is my favorite. Yes, he has a chip on his shoulder, but I would too, having to put up with that self-righteous Bugs Bunny day in day out.

  15. I love Daffy ... but my favorite duck is Donald. Hands down! LOL

  16. You mean attitude but still lovable? Yup. I'll take it. =) I was never a huge fan of Daffy, but I don't mind him. My hubby's favorite Looney Tunes character is Marvin the Martian, and I'm rather partial to Tweety Bird.

  17. He really is a great character, definitely not like all the rest.

  23. Long live Daffy Duck. He was around when I was small and that was quite a while ago.

  24. I agree, Daffy is fun because he's so honest about who he is. He says what's on his mind and doesn't sugarcoat it. I don't know that I'd want to be friends with him in 'real' life, but he sure is entertaining to watch on the screen!

Hope you’re having fun with the A to Z challenge,

  25. Yeah, to me, bugs bunny seemed more mean or maybe just had it too good. Daffy was more real, down to earth. :)

  26. I grew up watching Daffy Duck, so yes, he's a memorable character for me too.

  27. I never liked Daffy as a kid, though I don't know if I'd feel the same way upon revisiting him as an adult. I always loved the cartoon that ends with Bugs erasing Daffy from the pages of a comic book or film still.

  28. I always thought Daffy was an authentic character. Who doesn't know someone just like him. If you don't like Daffy, then well----you're despicable! :)
