Father's Day is this Sunday and I want to take a moment to thank all the fathers out there. You don't get enough credit for stepping up and for those who made mistakes, there's still time to do the right thing for your child. Happy Father's Day and I'm going to take an idea from from a post on
Wavy Lines blog and post a great fictional dad.
Charlie Swan from the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer
Charlie Swan had no super powers or special abilities but that didn't stop him from doing everything he could to protect his daughter Bella. As Chief of Police in Forks he had a whole town to protect and he did both that and fatherhood beautifully throughout the series. So here's to you Bella's dad and I picked this picture because I think it shows a great moment between father and daughter.
This week for
Celebrate the small things I want to give a shout out to all the fathers and dads out there. A father ensures he's responsible, protective and a dad ensures he's also loving and there. Thank you and a special celebration to the men who know how to be both. Happy Father's Day and we love you.
I love you Dad.
Hear, hear!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a great way to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteI do hope people spend some time with their fathers over the weekend. There are those of us who can no longer do that.
ReplyDeleteCharlie really is a great dad, people seem to overlook him quite a lot. I don't see my dad as much as I'd like, and I'm not seeing him on Sunday. I don't mind too much, because he's going fishing so at least I know he's doing something he enjoys. I'll be baking him a cake for father's day :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteCelebrating Dad's is a great thing!
ReplyDeleteAw, I love your pick! I thought Charlie was a great character and a wonderful dad.
ReplyDeleteMy dad, is one of the most genuine, honest, and best people I have ever had the privilege to know and I am so blessed to have him as my dad! I thank God for him, all the time.
Charlie is, by far, my favorite character in the Twilight universe. I love how Billy Burke portrays him in the films.
ReplyDeleteHe was a good book dad. :)
ReplyDeleteI made a video of my kids answering questions about their dad for my husband. It's cute. :)
I haven't read those books...I'm probably the only one on the planet...I know. This was nice, to honor Dads. I'm writing about my Dad on Monday!

ReplyDeleteCharlie Swan is one of my favourite dad characters! Such a nice dad.
ReplyDeleteWe do Father's Day in September over here ;)
Aloha:)
ReplyDeleteAhhh, shucks, why thank you ma'am :)

Sheena-kay, it is very sweet of us to shout out the Dads and I for one absolutely agree - if you are a Dad who's made mistakes - it's never too late to make amends.
I would also recommend a fantastic movie for all the Dads out there - including any soon-to-be or hoping-to-be Dads.
The movie is called COURAGEOUS and a great Father's Day family thing to do :)
I am really glad you reminded me about American Father's Day. Now that I live in New Zealand, our father's day is in Sept, but my Dad is in US.

Charlie Swan is probably my favourite fictional father.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first year I can remember that the American Father's Day and Irish Father's Day fall on the same day!
That is a great photo of Bella and her dad. And what a cute tribute to fathers out there. I do miss my own! Writer’s Mark
ReplyDeleteI second that....Happy Father's Day to all the great dads out there. Nice to meet a fellow WRiTE CLUB(er)! Love finding new blogs through celebrations :)
