Yesterday for some reason a copyright infringement claim was placed on one of my past posts. It was removed and placed in drafts. Now I went to check to see what this claim was about only to find out I was accused of infringing on something that was not even in my post. The accused post had three bloghops (which are public and legal for me to post), a mention of Jupiter Ascending (using a Wikipedia image that I sourced) and mention of Harry Potter with a Youtube video.
None of this was mentioned in the accusing report (Copyright claim #4). Instead I was supposedly infringing on a novel that's not even in my post (I have chatted with the author before on twitter and let her know what happened via a tweet. I'm not even the only one on the list!). Until this is sorted I have decided to delay my Movie Love post to next week and my next post will be on Friday and only about a cover reveal. I have filed a counter claim explaining how this accusation is a mistake. Hopefully I'll get a response soon and sort out this mess. Sigh. I had such a great time at the movies yesterday only to come home and find this cluster f****. God Bless and pray for me.

That's just nuts. How can a post about movies infringe on someone's novel? I'd think you would have to post actual lines from the novel.
ReplyDeletePraying they sort this out and really soon!
Just like a government agency to act first, question later. If there's nothing there, they can't do anything to you. Stand fast and let God straighten it out for you.
ReplyDeleteAll this through Blogger? I did have requests before to take down certain photos from upcoming shows because they haven't been released officially, and I took them down even though I did them a favour of promoting their shows for free :) I more often get requests from Google to remove certain naughty pics from our earlier years because they clash with the Google Add policy :) Mind you, those are never full nudity pics or anything similar, just celebs showing a bit of skin in their photoshoots :)
ReplyDeleteI hope it gets resolved in your favor sooner than later. Sounds like a big mess to try to sort out.

Nightmare! You poor thing. How annoying. Hope it all gets sorted soon.
ReplyDeleteI received the same report on two of my past blog posts about anime. The link in question is not even on those posts (and yes it's not even about books).
ReplyDelete(found your blog because of the list. ugh). I hope it gets sorted out.
I spoke to the author on twitter. She thinks it might be in part because of a site she joined to help find online infringing of her material. She's going to let them know that our pages have no infringing material and if they're responsible for Google taking down our posts, have the complaint withdrawn. She asked for my blog post link and I sent her both mine and yours from the list. Hopefully that might expedite fixing this problem.
DeleteThank you for your encouraging words and sorry we both have to carry this burden.
oh I see, thank you so much for sending my links!
DeleteI hope it gets straightened out quickly. I would have taken the post down too. It will be interesting when it resolves itself. There could be some sort of logic you can make a blog post about. Oh well, I know it is a bummer. I will put you in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann.
DeleteThis seems very weird and disturbing. I've thought about getting messages and warnings of this nature, but so far I've been fortunate not to have gotten anything. Hope you get this straightened out okay.

Tossing It Out
Hi Sheena - I sure hope it gets sorted out ... seems you're approaching it in the right way - take care and all the best - Hilary
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you're dealing with this, Sheena. I hope it gets resolved quickly. Very disturbing for all of us to think this could happen at any time.
ReplyDeleteThat's absurd. It's a sign of our time, too. I hope you can sort this out.
