Getting Personal: Nano and Me and Happy 2 Year Blogiversary
I will not be able to reach 50,000 words this year. Yes another year where I'll fall short of the 50,000 word goal of Nanowrimo. Would I have liked to accomplish it for the first time this year? Yes? Am I disappointed? Yes. Do I feel like a failure? No. 0%. Why you ask? Because I did this year what I wasn't able to do last year. I not only started Briar's Dilemma, I'm over 12,000 words into it. Now tell me that isn't a huge accomplishment by any standard.
I am still in love with the story and characters. I even added some new ones and characters like the mermaids have become super badasses since initially being just Briar's favourite secret flirt in bullfrog form. Illuminatu, the dolphin king shines and new comers like Ko, the Warlus have solidified their place into this new fictional world I've created. One of the things that have bothered me is the death count. Six chapters and three deaths and two near fatalities along with a near capture. I live for this kind of stuff and even I think the darkness is approaching too fast. Have to pace it better in the rewrites to come next year. Yes I plan to try to get to 20,000 this month then I'm putting it to rest for a while to focus on other projects. While I love the story this one was super hard to write and I went days with blank. But no regrets, Nanowrimo this year helped me get a project off the ground and for that I'm eternally grateful. Best of luck to the rest of you Nano writers and know whether you reached 50,000 words or not, you accomplished something amazing. You started to write a novel.
Guess What? It's Two Years since I started Queendsheena!
Well it was in October. Yup due to health issues and well...life I missed my blog's anniversary. But I'm still here and happy to celebrate Queendsheena being two as of October 25. Thank you blogging buddies, friends and readers for all your support. You make blogging worthwhile despite all the ups and downs. I'm truly happy.

Happy anniversary! Our blogger buddies are a true blessing.
ReplyDeleteYou wrote more than you would've if you hadn't attempted NaNo. Sounds like a big win to me.
Sheena...Congrats on both your second anniversary and getting a running start on your book. It was my first anniversary on Oct 8, and I'm not going to finish NaNo, either. But, like you, have about 10K+ written towards my book. Good luck in finishing!

Happy Anniversary anyway. I hope you are feeling better and able to enjoy that NaNo project. Keep writing!
ReplyDeleteI think it's truly awesome that you wrote so much. I didn't even attempt NaNo.
ReplyDeleteAnd Happy, Happy Anniversary to you. I love your blog and am so happy to have "met" you here. Keep on writing Sheena!!
Congrats on your two-year anniversary and that's great going on the NaNo project. Been crazy-busy for me, but boy do I wish I had the chance to get some stuff written.
ReplyDeleteThat's still 12K more words than you had before. If anything, NaNo exists to motivate more words out of us then we otherwise would. And a most excellent blogoversary to you, Sheena! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy blogiversary! 12K sounds pretty good to me, congrats on that.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're doing better, and congrats on your anniversary! Not everyone can keep up with NaNo. The point is you got some writing done, and you're passionate about it. Win/win! :)
ReplyDeleteWahoo! Congrats on your two years. It's amazing how quickly it goes.
ReplyDeleteYour WIP sounds exciting, and hey, as long as you're making progress, that's all that matters, right?
Yes, but a nice late celebration, I wish long life to your blog!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your anniversary! And getting a new story off the ground--that's definitely an amazing accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteHappy blogiversary! ^_^
ReplyDeleteway to go for the story! 50k is huge! i'm proud of you for trying!
ReplyDeleteand happy b-versay! i missed mine too... crazy world!
Happy 2 year anniversary. I hope that's a real cake for you to eat because it looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteTwo good things to celebrate in one post, I love it :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats with your progress this month - you've written 12,000 words more than me :)
And Happy Blogiversary.... isn't it amazing how quickly time flies :)
Hugs to the Queen :)
Happy anniversary! You definitely didn't fail at Nano, 12K is awesome! And you wip sounds fascinating from just these bits and pieces.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!!! I pray this next year is filled with better health and plenty of words. And you know, honestly...count means nothing over quality. I'd rather have 12,000 excellent words than 50,000 pieces of, um, well, crap.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your anniversary!

Happy anniversary, and congrats on the 12,000 words.
ReplyDeleteWoot! Happy Anniversary! I don't think there is such thing as failing NaNo. I've heard lots of folks that use NaNo as a spring board to get their projects off the ground. Sounds like you're well on your way!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogiversary! Wouldn't worry too much about Nano. We can only do what we can do.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. That cake looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteHappy delayed Blogiversary, Sheena! And no stress about NaNo... it's all about doing our best and pushing ourselves. And you've more than done that!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary, and any time you move forward with a project and get that many words on paper - you've accomplished a lot. NaNo is a great motivator, but life still goes on. I don't know anyone who can just go into a room and write for 30 days straight, with no interruptions, no family needs, no other needs - life interferes, and sometimes adds to the inspiration and sometimes distracts from it. So any work achieved is an accomplishment! We celebrate with you! I look at it as world wide permission to spend more time writing - something we all need and want, but most often put off for one reason or another! Can I have a piece of cake?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I wish You next year of blogging full in new ideas. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy blogoversary to you Sheena-kay!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are right - that is a darned big accomplishment. Congrats with your new beginning through NaNo. It sounds like a whirlwind of a story. Can there be too many deaths if they're intriguing?? :)
Glad your doing better! Writer’s Mark
Good for you, Sheena, and congrats on another anniversary.
ReplyDeleteAww Happy Belated Anniversary! Keep on blogging ;)
