Goals for 2013 Revamped

I revamped my Goals for 2013. This wasn't an easy decision. But after seeing tips from How to Publish and Promote Your Book Now by L. Diane Wolfe. I realized that I was making all kinds of errors when it came to my publishing timeline and some of my writing approaches. Plus I have been having some second thoughts so making changes was my best solution. Thank you for all your support and everyone knows that change is hard but with change comes progress.

Changes include #3 becoming #1 and vice versa, extending the time frame in both as well as #7 and adding #8 to remind myself to take marketing and promotion of my upcoming books more seriously.

Update: June 22, 2013. Added one goal which is now goal #2.

 Goals for 2013: Revamped

9. Take marketing and promotion more seriously for my upcoming books. Whether self-pub or otherwise.

8. Ensure that my Jamaican based books Snow and The Seer are ready to be published 2015-2016.  I'm a renowned pantser but some worksheets that I've downloaded have helped me make some leeway.

7. Lose at least 10 pounds. Lost 10 in 2011 and 0 2012. But I'm still proud because I didn't regain any weight unlike in 2010.

6. Prepare myself to start looking into the death of a relative. He was sot to death years ago and I always promised myself I'd look into his unsolved case. Well no year like this year. I guess.

5. Finish first draft (and hopefully first rounds of edits) of Lyric World by the end of September. This novel was my 2011 Nano and it's one that has a storyline I still love.

4. Seriously go through my W.I.P. Escaping Wonderland and try to complete the WIP and all edits by the end of September. And by then be ready to start sending out to agents as soon as possible.

3. Move out of my parent's house. Seriously, I know that all my sibs still live at home. But I need to go. Also, finally get a passport.

2. Self-publish at least one book by the end of the year. To prove how serious I am about becoming a published author.

1. Self-Publish the first 4 books in The Sacrifice Series before the end of this year. I have given myself a wider berth to allow time for the best editing and promotion of these books.

  11. Setting goals is important, but setting the right goals in the right priority is more important. Revising goals shows a degree of wisdom and open-mindedness. I wish you well.
