From the Ashes Blogfest, Coffee and Cockpits Cover Reveal and Celebrate

From the Ashes Blogfest

Today I'm taking part in the From the Ashes blogfest. Jessica K. MCKendry might just be a teenager but she has burst through the gate with her first novel and the kindle version is also now available as of today.

Summary:

Jaina Indera has been preparing her entire life for the chance to prove herself a superior and loyal citizen of the Imperial Alliance. In order to do so, she believes she must win the galaxy-wide competition known as the Trials. With training at her Gifted School progressing swiftly, everything looks like it is on pace for her to achieve her dream…until a boy named Dragon enrolls in her class.

Suddenly doubting herself and everything she’s been taught to believe, Jaina and Dragon are teamed with six of their classmates for the chance to compete and achieve their dream: winning the Trials. Consisting of four different tests, the Trials are about to challenge these eight young adults to the limits of their abilities. But learning to work as a team is more difficult than they ever imagined and dark secrets from Dragon’s past emerge that put them in mortal danger. Now Jaina must discover what she’s really fighting for if she and her team have any hope of finishing the Trials…alive.

Exploring the nature of self-reliance and self-confidence, McKendry delivers a perceptive, nuanced portrait of the importance of teamwork and the strain it puts on individual desires and motivations. Playing with the concepts of dark and light, her novel is a complex coming of age story that encapsulates the complicated hero’s journey from student to leader. A dark tale of love and revenge, From the Ashes is a powerful reminder to think for yourself instead of blindly following what you’ve been taught to believe.

Author Bio: Jessica McKendry was born in Michigan, yet grew up all over the Northeastern United States. She has lived in 7 different states, moved 15 times, and loves to travel. Jessica has been writing since she could read, but didn't write much more than poetry until she was 14 when she accidentally began writing what would become her debut novel two years later. Now for my choice in the Trial by Fire part of this blogfest. I choose to discuss a character from one of my upcoming novellas (to be self-pub).

Trial By Fire

In my novella (not yet released) Sacrifice Her my M.C. Deidra Moore faces the challenge of being selected as a human sacrifice for God of Gore. Her decision to run takes her from the world she always knew and makes her a fugitive since in Faux city the citizens believe an incomplete sacrifice will bring about destruction. While Deidra doesn't believe in the gods her biggest challenges include staying free, alive and dealing with falling in love with Kale who she meets while out in the desert. So her biggest test will be deciding to live the life she hopes for on the outside or returning home to die.

Coffee and Cockpits Cover Reveal

Today I'm presenting the cover of Coffee and Cockpits. This reveal is hosted by Xpresso Book Tours.

Coffee and Cockpits by Jade Hart
Publication date: March 2013
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:
By day, Nina Poppins is a professional flight attendant, who lives to travel, and isn’t afraid to chase her dreams. By night, she’s an award winning salsa dancer who wears sexy corsets and garter belts. She keeps her two lives separate, and none of her colleagues suspect that cool, demure Nina has a hot, spicy side.

Liam Mikin is a co-pilot who can get any air-hostess he wants with one blazing look of his blue eyes, and he wants Nina. He knows her secrets and is determined to win her affections.

Nikolai Rivers is an aircraft engineer who can dance as well as Nina and enjoys getting hot and heavy with her on the dance floor. But frustration chafes him at being held at arm’s length. However, his opportunity to break her exterior comes when an airplane malfunctions on a flight to Samoa, stranding all the crew on the Pacific island indefinitely.

Liam and Nikolai see each other as a challenge and start a race to be the first to earn Nina’s attention, but what they didn’t count on was the consequences of being island-wrecked, or the problems that come with fighting for the same girl...
