Sworn To Raise Cover Reveal

Today I'm participating in the Cover Reveal for Sworn to Raise by Terah Edun.

Sworn to Raise by Terah Edun (Courtlight #1) - Publication date: March 15th, 2013
Seventeen-year-old Ciardis has grown up in poverty, a cleaner in a small vale on the outskirts of the  kingdom. But beneath her kingdom’s seemingly idyllic surface lies a hidden secret. Whispers of an inept crown Prince are growing ever louder—intensified by the five year anniversary of the soulbond  initiations.

Amidst scandalous whispers, Ciardis finds herself chosen to train for the Companion’s Guild. She leaves her home and sets off on a personal journey to become a Court Companion. A position she’d never thought possible for a lowly servant to obtain, she must prove that she has the skills to attract a Patron.

But she must master those skills quickly. If the legends are true, only Ciardis can harness the power to raise a Prince in an Imperial Court sworn to bring him down.

This sensational series debut melds intricate storylines with remarkable characters and unforgettable magic. Sworn To Raise is ideal for fans of Kristin Cashore, Michelle Sagara, and Maria Snyder.

Happy Holidays!

Year 2012 is almost at an end and so much has been accomplished yet so much left undone. When I started this blog I thought I'd have a book out by now but I don't. Yet I have no regrets because I have learnt a lot thanks to you readers and blogger friends. In 2013 I plan to release a few of my self-published titles and continue whipping my WIPS into agent and publisher worthy shape.

But enough about me and writing. Christmas is just around the corner and so is New Years. I wish everyone a happy holiday season. Have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Despite all the recent tragedies lets give thanks for our blessings, others and pray/hope for better for the less fortunate whether it's for others or ourselves.

Please Note: I won't be posting any new post until January 1. But I have a few automated posts from book tours left in December. I'll still be around checking out your blogs but I won't be posting new content outside the following scheduled post for the rest of the year.

Spellbound Book Blitz and Giveaway

Today I'm presenting the Spellbound Book Blitz as a tour host for Xpresso Book Tours. There is also a giveaway which you can enter by clicking the link at the bottom of this post.

Spellbound Book 1: Entangled - February 20th 2012Two months after dying, seventeen-year-old witch Graylee Perez wakes up in her twin sister Charlene’s body.

Until Gray finds a way back inside her own body, she’s stuck being Charlene every twenty-hour hours. Her sister has left precise instructions on how Gray should dress and behave. Looking like a prep isn’t half as bad as hanging out with Charlene’s snotty friends and gropey boyfriend.

The “normals” of McKinley High might be quick to write her behavior off as post-traumatic stress, but warlock Raj McKenna is the only person who suspects Gray has returned from the dead.

Now Gray has to solve the mystery of her death and resurrection and disentangle herself from Charlene’s body before she disappears for good.

Spellbound Book 2: Duplicity - March 20th 2012
If Graylee Perez thought sharing a body with her twin sister was bad, dealing with a duplicate of herself is two times worse. Gray the second doesn’t seem to get that Lee’s boyfriend, Raj McKenna, is off limits. Then there’s the problem of Adrian Montez. He expects one of the Grays to be his.

Nearly a year later, the council is onto them for past misdeeds; Lee, along with the rest of the coven, has lost control of her powers; and Gray is being stalked by what looks like the Grim Reaper.

If they work together, they may stand a chance of setting things right and making it out alive.

Spellbound Book 3: Enchantment - April 2013
In the third and final installment of the Spellbound series, Graylee Perez (the duplicate), goes to Spain for a summer of escape. There she meets new friends and comes face to face with her old adversary, Adrian Montez.

When Gray tries to setup a spell that will banish Adrian from her life, she inadvertently falls under a love spell instead.

Charlene returns, having hijacked a new body, for one final battle between the twins.

Fang Girl Promo Blitz and Giveaway

Today I'm taking part in the Fang Girl Promo Blitz organised by Xpresso Tours.

Fang Girl by Helen Keeble - September 11th 2012 / HarperTeenThings That Are Destroying Jane Greene’s Undead Social Life Before It Can Even Begin:

1) A twelve-year-old brother who’s convinced she’s a zombie.
2) Parents who are begging her to turn them into vampires.
3) The pet goldfish she accidentally turns instead.
4) Weird superpowers that let her rip the heads off of every other vampire she meets.(Sounds cool, but it doesn’t win you many friends.)
5) A pyschotic vampire creator who’s using her to carry out a plan for world domination.

And finally:
6) A seriously ripped vampire hunter who either wants to stake her or make out with her. Not sure which.

Being an undead, eternally pasty fifteen-year-old isn’t quite the sexy, brooding, angst-fest Jane always imagined....

Helen Keeble’s riotous debut novel combines the humor of Vladimir Tod with Ally Carter’s spot-on teen voice. With a one-of-a-kind vampire mythology and an irresistibly relatable undead heroine, this uproarious page-turner will leave readers bloodthirsty for more.

Helen Keeble:
Helen Keeble is not, and never has been, a vampire. She has however been a teenager. She grew up partly in America and partly in England, which has left her with an unidentifiable accent and a fondness for peanut butter crackers washed   down with a nice cup of tea. She now lives in West Sussex, England, with her husband, daughter, two cats, and a variable number of fish. To the best of her knowledge, none of the fish are undead.

Her first novel, a YA vampire comedy called FANG GIRL, is out 11th Sept 2012, from HarperTeen.

She also has another YA paranormal comedy novel (provisionally titled NO ANGEL) scheduled for Sept 2013.

Fraction of Stone Cover Reveal

Today I'm giving my good blogger friend Kelley Lynn a hand with introducing her upcoming novel Fraction of Stone across the blogopshere.

Fraction of Stone by Kelley Lynn

Release Date: March 21st, 2013 by Sapphire Star Publishing
Genre: YA Fantasy

Book Description:

Wind tunnels, torrential rains and earthquakes tear apart Casden. The cause of the world’s imbalance is unknown, but the mounting occurrences suggest there’s little time before life ceases to exist.
Rydan Gale and Akara Nazreth are the only humans with the ability to wield magic. The tattoo on their necks and the discovery of an ancient book, dictate they are the key to the world’s survival.
But the greatest obstacle for saving mankind isn’t the bizarre creatures, extreme betrayals and magic-fearing men hunting them.
It’s that Akara doesn’t believe the world is worth saving.

About the Author: Eventually the day came when the voices in Kelley Lynn’s head were more insistent then her engineering professor’s. So instead of turning to her Thermodynamics book, Kelley brought up a blank page on her computer screen and wrote. Somewhere along the way she became a Young Adult author.

Kelley was born and raised a Midwestern girl. She’s not afraid to sweat and fills her free time with softball, soccer and volleyball. (Though you probably don’t want her on your volleyball team.) She occasionally makes guest appearances as a female vocalist for area bands.
You can find Kelley hanging out at her blog, titled in her name, as well as the group blog she shares with her fellow critique partners, Falling for Fiction. Kelley is a member of the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators.

Snow White Sorrow Book Blitz

Today I'm taking part in the Snow White Sorrow Book Blitz as a tour host for Xpresso Tours. I've read four of the six prequels to this upcoming book and will recommend everyone to read them and await this amazing upcoming book by the talented Cameron Jace.

Snow White Sorrow by Cameron Jace: February 2013 / Akmal Eldin Farouk Ali Shebl
What if all you knew about fairy tales was wrong?

Sixteen year old Loki Blackstar is no Prince Charming. His mother is a ghost. His only friend is a red Cadillac that talks to him through the radio. He looks like an Angel but acts like jerk. No wonder he has been banned from Heaven, which is the least of his troubles. Loki needs a job to pay for school and support himself.

Still, Loki has a rare gift: He is a Dreamhunter. One of the few in the world who can hunt and kill immortal demons in their dreams so they never wake up again.

When Loki is sent to kill a sixteen-year-old vampire girl the locals call Snow White Sorrow, he is pulled into a magical but dangerous world. The locals believe the monster to be Snow White.

The real Snow White... living in the ruins of an ancient castle in a small town. She is described as horribly beautiful, terrifyingly enchanting, and wickedly lovely.

What he finds instead is a beautiful monster girl filled with rage and hurt, who has an epic untold story to tell of things such like why the Brothers Grimm altered the fairy tale, who the Evil Queen really is, where the mirror came from, and who possessed it.

Snow White has killed every person who has dared come near the castle where she once lived with the queen. Mysteriously, she lets Loki live, and whispers two words in his ears; two words that will change his life forever.

Special Note: All "Likers" of Cameron's Facebook page ( will get to notified of the exact release date, which is also when you will be able to get Snow White Sorrow for only 0.99 for only that 1 day. Cameron would appreciate it if you would mention this on your post, along with the link to his Facebook. And don't forget to like it, too, if you want to take advantage of this great deal when it comes!

The Grimm Diaries prequels:
This Grimm Diaries Prequels are a number of short books in the form of epistolary diary entries. The diaries are more of teasers for the upcoming series: The Grimm Diaries, allowing you to get a glimpse of what to expect of the series. The 6 diaries are told by The Evil Queen, Peter Pan, Little Red Riding Hood, the Devil, Prince Charming, and Alice Grimm

Author Warning: these Grimm Prequels are snap shots of a magical land you're about to visit soon. I like to think of them as poisoned apples. Once you taste them, you will never see fairy tales in the same light again.

Please mention that until December 13th, the prequel pack (all 6) for Kindle is only 0.99c! Purchase link:  -Amazon:

Cameron Jace:
Wonderlander, Neverlander, Unicorn-chaser, enchanter, musician, survived a coma, & totally awesome. Sometimes I tell stories. Always luv the little monsters      I write young adult paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and science fiction mostly. The Grimm Diaries series is a seven book saga that deals with retellings of fairy tales from a young adult POV - it connects most of the fairy tales together and claims to be the truth about fairy tales.      I live in San Fransisco and seriously think circles are way cooler than triangles.

Excerpt from Snow White Blood Red

Dear Wilhelm Carl Grimm,

She is not that giddy, naïve, and helpless princess she pretends to be. Please don’t let her fool you with her innocence if you see her sing to the birds in the forest. Resist her charm from bringing joyful tears to your eyes, and shield yourself from her devious beauty before she deceives you into wanting to kiss her awake. It'll  be a kiss of death. Your death. That’s how she fooled the Huntsman, Prince Charming, and me, her birth mother.

I still remember the original script of the fairy tale, the one you wrote in 1812. It clearly stated that she was my own flesh and blood daughter. I don’t have the slightest idea why you altered it fifty years later.

What was the point of turning me into an evil, narcissistic, and heartless stepmother, blinded by jealousy and envy of the young princess?

For years, I have been looking forward to telling you the truth about her, but you were impossible to reach.

I am glad I found your brother, Jacob. He told me that you wanted to tone the stories down so children could sleep better at night, instead of having nightmares about the Queen who sought to eat her daughter’s heart and liver.

Shame on you, Wilhelm.

You, of all authors, knew why I wanted to kill her. My actions were justified. I was trying to save my kingdom from her wrath, before everything we loved was destined to an end. The same way you had to rewrite the true fairytales after cursing us, so the War of Sorrows would end forever after.

Night after night, and year after year, parents fed their children false bedtime stories, until your lies grew into inescapable memories. Your happily ever after lies, Wilhelm, shaped the so called fairy tale world.

I wondered why you didn’t burn the original scripts, instead of rewriting them. You must have figured out that sooner or later someone would dig up the truth and expose you. Altering it was the smarter solution. You let children believe that the bites were resurrecting kisses, and that torturing glass coffins were made for sleeping beauties, waiting for a prince to come and kiss them awake.

A wise man once said that the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he was someone else. You did the same with us, Wilhelm. You turned us into pastiches of the immortals that we really are, and made it harder for us if wanted to persuade the world otherwise.

I know that you did it to save us from her. And I appreciate how you concealed our real names, or we would have ended up like Rumpelstiltskin, tortured by those who knew of his real name.

But sometimes, I can’t help but wonder why no one ever questioned why I was called the Evil Queen, and why I was never given a real name in the books.

Was I so superficial to the world, so stereotypical and mundane? Why was I treated as if I were the monster of the week?

You know what I think? I think that the world never got the time to hate me. It just wanted to hate me long before it met me.

If I tell those who detest me about the true nature of their little princess, would they ever care about me half as much as they care about her?

I know that deep inside, they adore me. They like the way I talk, walk, dress, and even the way I kill.

They are just afraid to admit how much they love me. I am the Snow White Queen, strong enough that I don’t need anyone’s pity or love, because I am loved by the greatest and most majestic heart in the world:

Cheers, Alex Cavanaugh Fest

On Monday December 10 I finally buckled and decided to take part in the blogfest. Moving my scheduled Fang Girl Book Blitz post to Thursday I now write this with the knowledge that everyone will know I'm probably the last person to sign on. Don't ask me why I didn't sooner. I was thinking that like a thousand people are already in this and I have just started my book touring duties for Xpresso Tours and company. But Alex has been such a driving force for so many of us. How could I not take part?

What does Alex look like?

Ninja: Mysterious man in black with his katana and ever vigilant wife by his side.

Regular: Tall, handsome every man.

Who could play Alex in a documentary?

Umm... Robert Carlyle? Yeah him.

Who does Alex remind you of?

Kakashi from Naruto. A kind bad ass ninja whose face is hidden and gives advice. Totally Alex.

Flash Fiction

A Good Woman

Alex walked into the bar with his guitar over his shoulder. Cosbolt was a quaint bar that he frequented to drink in peace and hide behind the drummer if the crowd got too grabby.

"Hey Cavanaugh, time to pay the IWSG" a voice spoke.

Alex sighed. "I'm not paying your group to play for free. You are the worst extortionist ever."

A dark skinned man built like a house grabbed Alex.

"Wife dear."

A ninja in purple stood up. "Are you touching my husband?"

"No Killer Queen!" he trembled.

"Get out of here!" she ordered.

Alex sighed in relief. "Thanks."

Leave a comment for Mrs. Cavanaugh.

Thank you so much for sharing your husband Alex with us. He's a great treat and help across the blogosphere.  Wish you both many happy years together. Oh and I featured you in my flash fiction.

Oh yeah I'm done and did it in under an hour b...I mean delightful readers. Hope you enjoy this when it goes up tomorrow and best of luck to all entrants.

The Mating Game Bloghop: Escaping Wonderland

Today Victoria Smith and company are hosting The Mating Game Bloghop. I'll be using my WIP Escaping Wonderland. How this came out is a funny story. I started Nano with Gold who was a stripper running away to Wonderland along with Wolf and The Mad Hatter. But due to a fall, illness and computer trouble I had a lot of drawbacks and ended up not reaching my Nano goal. During that time I started to realize though that there were things I didn't like about the story including the fact that Hatter's issues were eclipsing Gold's. So by December I decided to make some changes and in a few days I decided to split the idea into two different novels. Escaping Wonderland and Gold. Gold now had Gold (Goldilocks) running away but not to Wonderland and Escaping Wonderland gets Hatter but it's his son who is on the run with Alice.

Now back to the bloghop. I will be using my starring characters Alice and the Hatter's son Max Hatter to answer the judge's five questions. They were almost a couple when Max's father betrayed her to The Queen of Hearts. Escaping Wonderland starts with Alice breaking out of prison just before her execution and going on the run with Max.

Question 1: Tell us about a memorable experience you shared together.

Alice: Wow um....there's quite a couple. I guess if you want lovey dovey stuff then it was when I wasn't a fugitive. Um...Max, his father and I were at The Grand Tea Party where we were celebrating the anniversary of The Mad Hatter's business. Max and I were laughing up a storm and held hands a lot. We weren't official and I hadn't yet decided if I was going to stay in Wonderland forever or go home. It was perfect. Then the queen's guards ran in and I got arrested. *Sigh* Learned quickly that The Mad Hatter had agreed to let Wonderland's ruler arrest me for treason.

Max: That was a horrible memory.

Alice: Well Mr. Perfect share yours.

Max: Okay. It was at night and we were watching the frogs do their symphony on the lily pads under stars. You were so perfect in the blue dress I'd bought for you. While we listened to the music I couldn't help but stare. The light from the moon and the stars gave your blonde hair an ethereal quality. You glowed and I couldn't stop watching that glow. And that was the first time I took your hand in mine. Really took your hand in mine and when you finally turned, you went red and pulled away. It was sweet.

Alice: Oh.

Question 2: What would your character do if the one they wanted was terrified of their feelings and pushed them away?

Max: Guess this is my question. (Alice rolls eyes) After my father betrayed Alice our budding relationship hit a brick wall. Though we're together again, it's not the same. Alice won't open up her heart again but I won't stop. I'll help her go home and both along the way and there I'll do everything possible to earn back her trust and hopefully later, her heart. If I have to die to save her, I will. I love her.

Question 3: What is one of the roadblocks standing in the way of you getting together?

Alice and Max: The Queen of Hearts a.k.a. The Red Queen.

Max: Red Queen is her execution nickname.

Alice: Well you answered the last one so it's my turn. The Queen of Hearts wants me dead because I'm the saviour for Wonderland. As long as I'm alive her rule is threatened. Also The Hatters are a powerful family with the first born sons having the ability to teleport between worlds and on rare occasions bring something over from somewhere else. Me and Max possible getting together has her mind brimming with crazy theories and she'll rather kill Max, the last living oldest son in the family line than risk me getting a chance to use the power against her. Short story, she's nuts.

Question 4: So, how would how would your characters describe the other person, using only one word at a time?

Alice: Um...Helpful?

Max: Seriously? Beautiful.

Alice: Brave.

Max: Amazing.

Alice: Arrogant.

Max: Jaded.

Alice: *growls* Handsome.

Max: *beams* Extraordinary.

Alice: *smiles* Devoted.

Max: Loyal.

Alice: *voice cracks* Loyal.

Alice: Loving.

Question 5: What was the first thing your main characters noticed about each other?

Alice: Yeah...I don't like remembering when I first came here. Now all the can think about is how...

Max: Fine I'll answer first. You were a bit disheveled.

Alice: I had just came through a wormhole from a hat!

Max: Portal. You were disheveled for company with the Hatters but you were also beautiful and the moment I saw you I knew you were special. But again you were a mess when you arrived.

Alice: Well..I noticed that you wore a an old guy.

Max: That's so not what you thought! I was only telling the truth.

Alice: Fine. I saw a teenager in a suit starting at me. I noticed you were...handsome and looked snappily dressed. And your face had a bit of an...arrogant look.

Max: What!

Alice: Well you kind of were looking at me up and down like...

Max: But you were....

Alice: Okay! Okay! Don't say it anymore please.

Max steals a kiss on the cheek.

Alice punches him in the shoulder. Then she blushes and stiffles a giggle.

Max: You liked it.

Alice: *acting coy* Maybe.

So that's it everyone. Remember to visit the other blogs participating in this bloghop and have a nice day.

Waiting on Wednesday: Reconnected
