Cop Racism: More Black People shot 'Accidentally'

I truly thought I would be covering something else today. Random and exciting. Sadly I saw this in the morning and felt I had to share it. Now I understand that being a police officer is a very hard job to take on and respect anyone who does so. But these kind of shootings need to stop. Like one of those says in The Young Turks video, cops have both lethal and non-lethal weapons for a reason. It is coming to a point where I genuinely believe people need to form some kind of private neighborhood watch force and only call cops when there is a lethal criminal in their mist. There were also at least two serious instances last year (including one where the man was still in his car) where lethal shooting of white people by cops were blatantly unnecessary. So while yes it has been mostly reported to be happening to black people, no race is completely safe from this. There needs to be action and juries need to stop letting these cops go with a slap on the wrist. The question should not be if the shooting was intentional or not but with all the training cops get was a gun necessary in the situation at all. I mean tasers and batons and etc. are there aside from the gun for a reason.

Well that's my thoughts and the video I saw is below. Let me know what you think and be safe my friends over the holidays. Of every race.

  1. It's sad when anyone is shot without just cause.

  2. I did not watch the video. I will take your word. The root is a lack of training and a need to pay better. It takes a lot of people skills to be a good cop, and you are still going to have mistakes. It is racism or just not being familiar with black people for black individuals to be more likely to be shot. The world is a sorry place.

Hopefully some good will come out of all this.

    1. Yes one of the host on the video mentioned that training to shoot first and ask questions later needs to stop. The sad thing is that if they had their tasers ready since it was a domestic call about a mentally challenged young man with a bat, no one would have had to die. I mean there is something seriously wrong when you are in such a hurry to shoot that you not only shoot the person armed with a bat but also the woman who opened the door for you? Mistakes are one thing, a huge big fat mess is another.

  3. There was a shooting in my town right before Christmas in a very public place. The cops shot the gunman with no hestitation. For once I was happy to see this because if they'd hesitated a lot of people including children could have died. I think there is a time for immediate action with guns, but that doesn't mean every situation merits it. Cops should be trained to know when to use their guns.

    1. Exactly Kelly. In understand in a situation like what you diescribed with a gunman out in public. Sadly with the one in the video they just shot into a house indiscriminately and not only shot the mentally challenged young man with a bat but also the older neighbor who opened the door for them. I mean the father had called the cops about his son. There was no need for either of those people to have died if the cops had their taser ready in case the young man still had the bat.

    2. A friend of mine's brother was shot behind a Waffle House restaurant by police. There was a big fight happening. Her brother was helping to break it up. He got the gun and shot it in the sky to make the crowd leave. He was also drunk and about 400 pounds. I can see why he was shot. It was a terrible waste of a fine individual nonetheless.

  4. There's just entirely too many stupid people carrying guns.... some policemen included....

  5. I listen to Ann Rule's true crime series on Audible and I was just listening to a book where she described the training officers must go through to determine when to/when not to shoot. Apparently it's extremely hard...you have to make snap judgments and your own life can often be at risk. But I do believe there's a higher likelihood they'll shoot if it's a non-white person who they think is armed. Perhaps they need to work a little harder on that "when to/not to shoot" training!
