Waiting On Wednesday: The Shadows Between Us

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that allows us to spotlight books we are eagerly anticipating to be released.

I saw a review for this book last week and wanted it yesterday. The story sounds so deliciously dark and the cover mesmerizing. 2020 can't come fast enough.

Release Date: February 25, 2020

Blurb: Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:

1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.

No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.

But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?

Thank you for stopping by.

Waiting on Wednesday: When She Reigns

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that allows us to spotlight books we are eagerly anticipating to be released.

I have been a huge fan of Jodi Meadows for years. So I had to do a WOW for her upcoming book next month.

Release Date: September 10, 2019

Blurb: The First Dragon

The Great Abandonment has begun. Panic has seized the Fallen Isles, where no one knows which god will rise next. Mira Minkoba believes her dreams hold the secret to bringing an end to the destruction, but in order to save her people, she’ll have to find a legendary treasure: the bones of the first dragon.

The Last Hope

Mira’s desperate search leads the Hopebearer and her friends on a dangerous journey into the heart of enemy territory: the Algotti Empire itself. The empress is more than willing to help—for an impossible price. And as tensions escalate beneath the shadows of the risen gods, Mira grapples with a terrifying question: What will she have to sacrifice to preserve what she loves?

The explosive finale to Jodi Meadows’s Fallen Isles trilogy is ablaze with sizzling romance and fiery magic as Mira’s fight to save dragons from extinction evolves into a mission to save her world from annihilation.

Top Ten Tuesday: Favourite Tropes

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl

Today I get to share with you my ten favourite tropes. These gems help spice up any story.

1. Fairytale Retellings: I love these so much. I even write them and enjoy that beyond words.

2. Band of Misfits - When the chaos breaks out this ragtag group will do their best to fix things. Even if they don't really want to.

3. Magical Training - Yes, please.

4. Quest - Whether to save the world or for other purposes, this trope is a good friend of mine.

5. Prophecies - I love them, more so when they go haywire or come true in disastrous ways.

6. Time Travel - Whether to distant lands or five minutes ago. I'm here for this!

7. Dark Stories - I want my pain and angst. Don't at me!!

8. The Found Family: Not all relations are bound by blood.

9. The Not-Chosen One- I love it when something happens to the person who was supposed to save the world or do an important task and another individual far from qualified has to do it.

10.  Vampires and all those paranormal goodies - Mine!!

That was my top ten for this week. Any special tropes you hold close to your heart? See you tomorrow for Waiting on Wednesday. Thanks for stopping by.

Video Essay Channel Coming Soon

Look I made a banner! Thank you Canva for helping so many of us to able to create our own graphics. Anyway, I want to let you all know that I'm expanding to a new spot. Youtube! Come Mid-September my first video will go up. What will it be about? Not books, I don't want to be a book tuber. Probably a shock from such a bookish girl like me. But I'm more interested in discussing visual media. More precisely, theories, thoughts, and reviews. I will still talk about writing a bit but that will be from more of a fan fiction angle.

What to Expect?

Video Essays Discussing my thoughts on the following things:

* Kung Fu Panda 3 as a Tragic Romance

*Secret Obsession (Netflix): The Real Culprit of these tragic events

*She-Ra Theory

*A Month-Long of Coraline Videos for October

- Why I think Coraline escaped into the real world.
- Who the real saviour is.
- The OUAT connection. Oh yes, there are some great parallels.
- The Beldam's return.
- The 'Adult' Problem.
- Prophecies.
-The Fairy Truth.
-The Foreboding Hairclip.

This is just from September to October. I will also create a few posts here discussing a few small theories. So don't feel left out if my blog is your preferred format of enjoying my content.

My blog is evolving. I won't be posting book reviews much anymore. But I will still keep taking part in weekly book memes Top Ten Tuesday and Waiting on Wednesday. Netflix Dragon posts will still go up. I have also expanded my freelance writing business to facebook with my very own page. I tried a group last year but there were some 'trollish' incidents so I deleted it. Anyway, thanks for stopping by. See you on Monday.

Waiting on Wednesday:The Unstoppable Wasp Origin Novel

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that allows us to spotlight books we are eagerly anticipating to be released.

I must confess that I found out about this book via an announcement from one of my dream agents. I have been trying to keep up with the new influx of young adult novels based off superheroes over the last few years. It's exciting and I'm glad to share yet another coming in 2020.

Release Date: May 26, 2020

Blurb: A story of love and demons, family and witchcraft.

Nova Huang knows more about magic than your average teen witch. She works at her grandmothers' bookshop, where she helps them loan out spell books and investigate any supernatural occurrences in their New England town.

One fateful night, she follows reports of a white wolf into the woods, and she comes across the unexpected: her childhood crush, Tam Lang, battling a horse demon in the woods. As a werewolf, Tam has been wandering from place to place for years, unable to call any town home.

Pursued by dark forces eager to claim the magic of wolves and out of options, Tam turns to Nova for help. Their latent feelings are rekindled against the backdrop of witchcraft, untested magic, occult rituals, and family ties both new and old in this enchanting tale of self-discovery.

Top Ten Tuesday: Fictional Besties

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl

Today I'll be sharing which book characters would be my bestie. Sounds like fun to me.

1. Ronald Weasley from HP Series: He's a loyal friend and always willing to try.

2. Clarisse from The Percy Jackson Series: Yes, she and the Aires cabin are portrayed as bullies. But just because someone does some bad things doesn't mean they're evil. Clarisse is strong, loyal, dedicated, badass and has a strong sense of duty. I might be more bookish but I think we could bond over mutual respect and desire to protect those we care about.

3. Hermione Granger: She's awesome and I love her.

4. Elizabeth Wakefield from the Sweet Valley series: We can bond over our love of writing.

5. Cathy Dollanger from Flowers in the Attic

6. Tris Prior from Divergent series

7. Cina from The Hunger Games Trilogy

8. Severus Snape from the Harry Potter Series

9. Klaus Baudelaire from A Series of Unfortunate Events

10. Nova and Tam from Mooncakes

Who are your fictional besties? Thanks for stopping by.
