IWSG: March is here

Today is IWSG and time to get your posts up for another first Wednesday. Hey guys!

Is it March already? Oh hell. I feel as if time flew this month. Maybe because February is the shortest month of the year and is short two to three days? No? Well it ended too soon for me. Anyway I'll be answering this month's IWSG question. The Goal Hop and a new book review will be up Friday. On a happy note I'm working on getting a series published and you can find out more on my Author Facebook Page and Instagram. Check the side bar.

Monthly Question: Have you ever pulled out a really old story and reworked it? Did it work?

My answer to this is no for original fiction and sometimes when it comes to fan fiction. Reworking an old idea is no easy task. It takes going back to a story you had to put aside and look at it with fresh eyes and a willingness to whip it into shape. That is no instant journey and you need to be in it for the long haul. I find it easier working with new ideas. Though there are a few old stories I'd like to give a new try one day. Just not right now.

Thanks for stopping by and see you on Friday. I'll be on a break in April so I won't be doing another IWSG until June. Take care.

  1. One day the time might be right for one of those older stories.

  3. Yes, you must have fresh eyes to re-work something and it can be a lot of work.

  6. March whipped by too fast for me too. You're right about it being hard to re-work an old story. Good luck on yours!

  7. You know, I have to be honest and say I have fallen in love with revising. Putting a piece aside for a length of time and then picking it up and working on it again has become a part of me. Now I am to the point of saying okay this is the very last revision before I submit, but I never would have gotten this far if I hadn't had the nerves to put it aside and let the story settled so I could see the hang-up.
    All the best.

  8. Hello, your Majesty. I need that business of looking at an old story with new eyes, so I find it very helpful to set a story aside and let it stew before revising. If it's too fresh, I have a harder time seeing redundancies, plot problems, etc. Happy writing!

  9. New ideas really are easier to work on, but where's the fun in that? ;)

  12. I agree that reworking an idea is not often an easy task. It's like renewing a relationship with an old friend you haven't seen in years. Things have changed. One has to adapt and sometimes in very big ways.
