Monday Mishmash: First Timer!

Hi this is my first time taking part in Monday Mishmash a weekly meme sharing your thoughts and happenings. You just grab a button and create your post. Sure I guess I write it differently from most but moving on....

1. Over the weekend I started doing a fan movie sketch for a Fantastic Four reboot. I know that sounds crazy or silly but I truly believe that this movie can be done right. All I will say right now is that my version has Fantastic 4 facing The Skrulls and Dr. Doom becomes a bit of an anti-hero but not so much so that it eliminates his villainous personality. More is coming but I am thinking of trying to pitch this thing through fan sites to see if I can get some creative juices pumping over at Fox. Seriously they need to get a hit, I mean Ant-Man made it. ANT-MAN! No, I don't care that it's a Marvel property, if Ant-Man can make it so can Fantastic Four with the right movie. There.

Oh and I shot the origin story in the head. None of that for half my fan movie. Time to go Deadpool fans on this property.

2. Yesterday I found out Dragons: Race to Edge has Season Two up and naturally I had to watch the first seven. How did I miss the email update on Friday? How! Loving it so far though.

3. So I started a MerryWeather retelling of her long before Sleeping Beauty. Yes I did. I am also thinking about a MG with Saint Nick being the bad guy. So....

4. I really should get to seeing Star Wars The Force Awakens.

5. Took a few days off ghostwriting. Monday will have be back in the saddle with plenty of time to spare thank goodness. At least I got #1 going during that time.

6. Happy to say Victoria Aveyard, author of The Red Queen series responded to a few of my tweets over the weekend. Collar pop.

So there you have it, my first MishMash. This meme aint half bad. Thanks Kelly Hashway for introducing me to this with your own cool posts. See you guys tomorrow, hugs!

  1. Unlike the various movie versions we've seen, I'm sure your Fantastic Four Rocks.
Deadpool! Does that movie not look wickedly awesome?
Now, go see Force Awakens. Disney needs your money.

    1. Yeah Disney is that near to the poor house. Lol. Thanks for the encouraging words with F4 Alex and Deadpool just has to blow our minds next month.

  2. Oh, noes, dear, don't tell me you like Aveyard!!! I'm her translator here and she is such an example of today's uneducated writers who need to read about 1,000 more books before starting to write one of their own, her books are filled with writer's mistakes, so please don't take her as a role model. She wrote RED QUEEN almost totally in adverbial sentences which is the first sign of the lack of imagination and stalling the story :( And GLASS SWORD is even worse, 90% used introspection and retrospection to fill up the space

    1. Her story is engaging though. Sorry that she has so many issues to work on before she draws you in Dez.

  3. Well, so much for your birthday wish to Victoria. How rude to bash her on her birthday.

They need to let Fantastic Four rest a bit before rebooting it again. And hire some of those Marvel writers when they do.

    1. Well I love Victoria's work and you can't please everybody. True F4 needs a break and hopefully that helps with a future reboot.

  7. Thanks for the heads up on the second season of Dragons. I'll add that to the things I need to watch on my new OLED television set with built in Netflix :). As for thoughts on Fantastic Four, I think that they need to skip the whole origin story and just go for a whole "Fantastic Four versus a villain" storyline. They also need to get writers who are real fans of the comics and not ones that are unfamiliar with the source material. I think your idea sounds great.

    1. The second season is great so definitely add it your list on Netflix. Agreed that Fantastic Four origin story can be skipped and I think they need writers that are both familiar with the comics as well as the broader appeal of superhero movies for today as a whole. Last year Fox clearly had neither. I don't mind F4 getting some changes but I don't a dark horror movie version. I read a few reviews claiming that they should go that route but I am just glad the sequel got cancelled. They need to go back to the drawing board and find a way to bring out the super hero family dynamic without being campy, scary or just plain bad. Glad you like my idea and thanks for stopping by.
